Relationship and Self-Help Books?

I’ve been going through some relationship issues and I’ve been getting different relationship/self-help books out of the library. Most of the time, I feel like crap after reading them, because the author tells me I’m doing everything wrong in my life or relationship.

But, I’m pretty confident with the person I am and the way I’m choosing to handle things. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had experiences with these type of books. What’s your opinion on them?

It seems like most of the books are negative and tell you what to do, rather than guide you to make your own decision and be your own adult person.
To clarify, I thought that a good book would be able to reinforce the way I choose to do things, I thought they would be positive, even spiritual and have a lot of guidance.

But, they were awful, negative! I started reading more stuff on spiritually instead.
I’ve stop reading them.
